25/10/24 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 25 October, the European Commission adopted new rules for the ‘Farm Sustainability Data Network’ (FSDN), which replaces the Farm Accountancy Data Network (FADN). From 2025 onwards, new data will be collected by Member States at farm level, providing a better understanding of sustainability in agriculture and its economic, environmental and social dimensions (see EUROPE 13273/27). The new network is based on the FADN, which has been providing valuable information on the agricultural economy for almost sixty years. The FADN is a unique source of microeconomic and accounting data from over 80,000 farms across the EU each year, and data on environmental and social sustainability will now be added to the new FSDN.
