07/10/2024 (Agence Europe) – The European Fisheries Control Agency, at the initiative of the European Commission, launched, on Friday 4 October, the second edition of the e-FishMed exchange programme aimed at strengthening cooperation and promoting the sharing of expertise and best practices in the fight against Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) fishing. The programme is targeted to fisheries inspectors and Fisheries Monitoring Centres operators of the five e-FishMed beneficiary countries: Algeria, Libya, Morocco, Mauritania and Tunisia. The programme is technically supported by the e-FishMed project partners: France, Italy, Malta, Portugal and Spain. The second edition of the exchange programme is organised in cooperation with the French authorities who, through the ‘École du service public de la mer’ (ESPMER), hosted participants from the beneficiary countries, sharing their experience and working methods with them.
