The implementation of the Communication on unlocking the potential of the EU’s outermost regions is “well on track”, according to a report published by the European Commission on Thursday 3 October.
In just over two years, the Commission has fulfilled many of its commitments by taking account of the specific characteristics of the outermost regions in numerous projects, policies, legislative proposals and initiatives, according to the report.
Investments financed by cohesion policy have played and continue to play a key role in the outermost regions, according to the Commission.
Other EU funds and programmes, such as the Recovery and Resilience Facility, the Connecting Europe Facility, the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund, the POSEI and LIFE programmes, have had “significant positive impacts” in these regions in the fields of transport, digitalisation, agriculture and the environment.
