25/09/24 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission, the European Rail Partnership and the European Union Agency for Railways honoured the contribution made by women in the rail industry, where they account for just 20% of the workforce, at the ‘Women in Rail’ 2024 awards ceremony on Tuesday 24 September. Maria-Luisa Dominguez, President of ADIF (Administrador de infraestructuras ferroviarias, in Spain), received the award in the ‘Leadership and Mentoring’ category. Metro Istanbul, the operator of the metro system in the city of Istanbul (Turkey), has been singled out in the ‘Empowerment of Women’ category. Veronica Elena Bocci, from DITECFER (District for rail technologies, in Italy), won the ‘Research and Innovation’ award. The awards were presented at the 14th InnoTrans transport technology trade fair in Berlin. (NP)
