12/09/2024 (Agence Europe) – Three members of The Left Group in the European Parliament - Li Andersson (Finnish), Per Clausen (Danish) and Jonas Sjöstedt (Swedish) - will be visiting Tesla’s factory in Umeå, Sweden, on Friday 13 September to show their support and talk to the striking workers, according to a press release from The Left. “Tesla is using the European directive on the posting of workers to fly in scabs from outside the company to its factories in Sweden in order to block the legal dispute over collective agreements”, the group points out. “To prevent Tesla from abusing European laws to attack the fundamental right to strike”, the three elected representatives are calling on the European Commission to close the loopholes in the directive in order to safeguard workers’ right to strike. They wrote to it to this effect in July (see EUROPE 13461/29). (SP)
