05/09/24 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 4 September, the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) launched a consultation for aviation stakeholders and citizens on the draft proposals for the initial and continuing airworthiness of certified unmanned aircraft systems (see EUROPE 13388/8). EASA is proposing amendments aiming to: - ensure a high and uniform level of safety for these subject to certification and operated in the ‘specific’ category; - provide guidance to the Member States’ competent authorities on the application of regulations; - support the implementation of the new regulatory framework for drones and help affected stakeholders understand it; - take into account the new features of drones compared with manned aviation.
