European Commission discusses green light for premiums for grubbing up vines with France

On Thursday 5 September, the European Commission confirmed to the members of the European Parliament’s Committee on Agriculture that it was examining France’s request to be able to pay €150 million in national aid to grub up 37 500 hectares of vines.

The subject of grubbing up vines could be discussed by the high-level group on the European wine sector, which is due to meet for the first time on 11 September in Brussels (see EUROPE B13449A2). The European Parliament’s Committee...
