19/07/24 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 19 July, the European Commission announced that it was approving, under the crisis and transition framework, the modification of a Romanian State aid scheme initially approved on 22 February 2024 (see EUROPE 13362/24) and aimed at supporting tomato and garlic producers in Romania, affected by the disruption of agricultural markets linked to Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine. The amendment includes an increase in the overall budget for the aid scheme of around €54.4 million (270.7 million Romanian lei), as well as an increase in the amounts of individual aid for beneficiaries of the measure.
