On Thursday 18 July, the European Union and the United States officially welcomed eight new member countries to the Minerals Security Partnership (MSP) Forum, the new international platform for cooperation in the field of critical raw materials (CRM), launched in April 2024, the Commission said in a press release (see EUROPE 13385/2).
The new members (Argentina, Mexico, Peru, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Greenland, Kazakhstan and Namibia) “considerably strengthen and diversify the Forum’s objective of forging partnerships with resource-rich countries and countries with a high demand for these resources, to explore mutually beneficial projects”, explains the Commission.
The Forum already brings together the following countries: Australia, Canada, Estonia, France, Finland, Germany, India, Italy, Norway, South Korea, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the United States.
The announcement of these new members was made as part of a virtual event co-organised by the EU and the United States. (Original version in French by Solenn Paulic)
