05/07/24 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 5 July, the European Commission launched a call for applications to select the members of the new Technology Council for Advanced Materials, new materials with improved properties (see EUROPE B1344410). This governance structure was announced in the initiative launched in February by the Commission to promote an advanced materials network in Europe (see EUROPE 13359/16). This Technology Council will focus on issues such as funding, skills, regulation and infrastructure, and will be responsible for assessing the potential for synergies with regional ‘innovation valleys’. This body will include representatives from Member States’ research and industry ministries, academia, research and technology institutions, social partners, industry and the Commission.
