Europe’s hotel industry calls on DMA to counter Booking’s monopoly status

In a study published on Tuesday 2 July, HOTREC, the lobby group for trade associations in the hotel, restaurant and café sector, deplores the unbalanced relationship between online travel agencies (OTAs) and hoteliers.

Targeting the platform Booking in particular, the study sets out in detail its growing influence in the sector: “Booking Holding [...] has a share of 71% in the OTA market in Europe, an increase of 10% over the last 10 years”.
