24/06/24 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 24 June, the Council of the EU adopted restrictive measures against six individuals responsible for activities undermining stability and political transition in Sudan, where fighting is continuing between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) (see EUROPE 13391/2). The list includes a general commanding the RSF in West Darfur. On the SAF side, sanctions target the Managing Director of Defense Industry System (DIS), a company already sanctioned by the EU, and the Commander of the Sudanese Air Force, El Tahir Mohamed El Awad El Amin. Ali Ahmed Karti Mohamed, former Sudanese Minister of Foreign Affairs, is also on the list. Those targeted are subject to an asset freeze and travel bans in the EU. It is forbidden to provide them directly or indirectly with funds or economic resources. (BD)
