31/05/24 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 31 May, Gdańsk, Madrid and Pau won the top prizes at the Eurocities Awards 2024. Each city demonstrated exceptional commitment to this year’s theme of “tackling global challenges”. The 2024 winners impressed the panel of experts with their projects to attract skilled workers for the green transition, support sustainable food systems and mobilise residents to vote in elections, says the Eurocities organisation. Madrid won the ‘Innovation ecosystems’ award category with its Centre for Innovation in the Circular Economy. Pau won the award in the ‘Sustainable food systems’ category for its Green Belt project (food supply chains). Gdańsk won the ‘Creative election campaigns’ category. (LC)
