31/05/24 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 30 May, the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, announced the publication of his 2023 Annual Report on Human Rights and Democracy in the World. “Human rights and democracy are and will continue to be at the heart of the EU’s external action”, he promised. The report provides a “comprehensive overview of the endeavours and achievements” of the EU, as well as the challenges it faces, “in fostering a world where human rights are respected, democratic principles are upheld and the dignity and freedom of all individuals are safeguarded”, states the introduction to the document.
