15/05/2024 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission has completed an investigation into the circumvention of its anti-dumping duties on plywood of Russian origin by Kazakhstan and Turkey. On Tuesday 14 May, it concluded that the measures had indeed been circumvented: Russian products subject to measures had been shipped to Kazakhstan and Turkey before being shipped to the EU. A tariff of 15.8% is therefore imposed on imports from these two countries. The request for an investigation into possible circumvention was filed in mid-2023 by the ‘Woodstock Consortium’, representing plywood producers, which had noted a significant increase in imports of these goods from the two target countries. Birch plywood products are made from sheets of wood and are mainly used in the construction, packaging and furniture sectors. See the implementing regulation: https://aeur.eu/f/c7l (LM)
