On Wednesday 15 May, to mark International Day of Families, COFACE, the association defending the interests of European families, published an assessment of European policies over the last 5 years and 10 key demands, in the form of challenges, for the next legislature.
These ten actions should be developed “within an economic framework that works better for society and the planet, within an economy that cares about others”.
Among these ten actions, COFACE cites the well-being and health of families, poverty, especially child poverty, and spiralling costs, work-life balance, with a gender dimension that also enables men to provide care, and taking better account of disability with more inclusive societies and schools.
COFACE identified 8 positive actions during the last mandate, but also pointed to failures, such as the absence of a European agreement on the right to disconnect.
