12/04/24 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 11 April, the European Commission launched a market study to assess the interest of the EU market for the development of long-term gas products, decarbonisation and the reduction of methane emissions through a permanent mechanism for aggregating demand and joint purchases as part of the EU energy platform (see EUROPE 13360/21). The aim of the survey is to understand the dynamics of the market, define the characteristics of the mechanism and gather information on gas products, cooperation in joint purchasing and the reduction of carbon and methane emissions. The responses will be used to design the mechanism, as set out in the provisional agreement of the gas package adopted the same day by the European Parliament (see EUROPE 13389/11). The enquiry is open until 2 May. To see the enquiry, go to https://aeur.eu/f/bqu (PLD)
