First payment of nearly €2 billion envisaged in May under ‘Ukraine Facility’

12/04/2024 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission could pay “in May” a first tranche of macro-financial assistance of “€1.9 billion” to the Ukrainian authorities under the €50 billion “Ukraine Facility” for the period 2024-2027 (see EUROPE 13344/18), as Valdis Dombrovskis, Executive Vice-President of the EU institution, indicated on Friday 12 July. He pointed out that bridging finance had already been put in place, with a payment of €4.5 billion in March and a further €1.5 billion scheduled for April. The Commission is currently assessing the reform and investment programme submitted by Ukraine to implement the Ukraine Facility. According to Mr Dombrovskis, the Commission would like to include in it quarterly indicators for the release of future payments. See the Ukraine programme: https://aeur.eu/f/bq9 (MB)
