New appointments in three Directorates-General

On Wednesday 27 March, the European Commission made three appointments.

It transferred the current Director General of the Directorate-General for Structural Reform Support (DG REFORM), Mario Nava from Italy, to the post of Director-General of the Directorate-General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion (DG EMPL). The date of entry into force will be determined at a later date.

Current Director-General of the Joint Research Centre (JRC), Franco-British Stephen Quest is to become Director-General for Human Resources and Security (DG HR). This Commission department oversees recruitment policy, training and career management, social policies and working conditions for Commission staff. He is responsible for building and employee security, as well as online security. The date of entry into force will also be determined at a later date.

Finally, the Commission has appointed a new Principal Adviser to its Directorate-General for European Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR) in the person of the German Henrike Trautmann, currently Principal Adviser ‘for the reconstruction in Gaza’ within the same Directorate-General. (Original version in French by Solenn Paulic)
