European Commission adopts delegated act to assess sustainability of data centres

On Friday 15 March, the European Commission adopted a new delegated regulation on the first phase of the establishment of a European system for assessing the sustainability of data centres in the EU.

As provided for in the recently adopted Energy Efficiency Directive (see EUROPE B13268A29), this delegated act requires data centre operators to report key performance indicators to the European database by 15 September 2024, 15 May 2025 and subsequent years.
