23/02/24 (Agence Europe) – In 2022, renewable energies accounted for 41.2% of gross electricity consumption in the EU, 3.4 percentage points (pp) than in 2021, according to Eurostat in a new publication dated 21 February. Renewable energies increased by 5.7% between 2021 and 2022. Wind power and hydro power accounted for over two-thirds of renewable electricity (37.5% and 29.9% respectively), while solar power, solid biofuels and other sources made up the rest. Sweden leads the way with 83.3% of its electricity generated from renewable sources, followed by Denmark (77.2%) and Austria (74.7%). The lowest shares were recorded in Malta (10.1%), Hungary (15.3%), the Czech Republic (15.5%) and Luxembourg (15.9%). To see the publication: https://aeur.eu/f/az1 (PLD)
