05/02/2024 (Agence Europe) – In an open letter published on Friday 2 February, several hundred European officials from nine EU countries, the United States and the United Kingdom call on their governments and the leaders of the EU institutions to: - hold Israel “accountable” to international humanitarian law in its response to the Hamas terrorist attacks of 7 October 2023, including immediate and full implementation of the recent order of the International Court of Justice; - use “all leverage available, including a halt to military support", in order to secure a lasting ceasefire and full humanitarian access in Gaza and a safe release of all hostages; - develop a strategy for “lasting peace that includes a secure Palestinian state and guarantees for Israel’s security”.
