02/02/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 2 February, the European Commission announced a €26 million humanitarian aid package to help vulnerable refugees and their host communities in Turkey. The south-east of Turkey, which is home to many refugees from Syria, was hit by a devastating earthquake in early 2023 (see EUROPE 13126/14). €4 million will be allocated to projects that facilitate education in emergency situations. The EU will also continue to help refugees meet their basic needs, such as water, sanitation, hygiene and specialised healthcare services. (MB)
