01/02/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 31 January, in response to a letter sent the previous day by European trade unions on the absence of a legislative proposal on the screening of buildings in the European Union for the presence of asbestos (see EUROPE 13339/30), the European Commission told EUROPE that it still intends to present a text by the end of this legislative cycle. According to some sources, this proposal could be presented at the end of March. In a letter to Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on Tuesday 30 January, the European trade unions deplored the fact that this promise made in 2022 had not been kept. (SP)
