MEPs endorse political agreement to extend ‘PRIMA’ partnership

23/01/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 23 January, MEPs on the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) adopted (41 votes in favour, 3 against and 1 abstention) the provisional agreement reached on Wednesday 13 December for the European Union’s continued participation in PRIMA, a research and innovation partnership in the Mediterranean region partly funded by Horizon Europe (see EUROPE 13313/41). The rapporteur, Paolo Borchia (ID, Italian) had supported a draft report introducing limited changes to the European Commission’s proposal to extend its active phase until 2027 (see EUROPE 13270/8). He emphasised Parliament’s ability to work quickly since the adoption of the Commission’s proposal. For the rapporteur, one of the keys to the success of these negotiations was the remarkable cooperation between the groups. (EV)
