European Parliament refuses to use urgent procedure on targets for fixing fishing opportunities

16/01/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday, 16 January, the European Parliament decided to refuse the EU Council’s request to use the urgent procedure to examine a proposal on targets for fixing fishing opportunities. The proposal will therefore be analysed by the European Parliament’s Committee on Fisheries. Dated 6 December 2023, the proposal concerns multiannual plans that set quantifiable targets (target fishing mortality rates). These rates offer a certain degree of flexibility...
