United Kingdom eases its post-Brexit procedures for school trips from France

03/01/2024 (Agence Europe)On 28 December, the UK announced that it was easing restrictions on school trips between France and the UK. This decision will allow French and European students in France to travel to the UK with just an identity card, as was the case before Brexit. Non-European students studying in France will still have to present a passport, although the visa requirement, previously set at £115, has been abolished. The British Educational Travel Association has welcomed this measure and called for it to be extended to all EU countries. The organisation is also proposing a new programme for educational visits by groups of young people from the EU to the UK, for up to six weeks. This development was seen as a step towards reviving educational exchanges after the negative impact of Brexit on the sector. (NP)
