03/01/24 (Agence Europe) – Since1 January 2024, citizens of Kosovo no longer need a visa to enter the European Union for stays of less than 90 days in any three-month period, in line with the rules adopted by the EU Council in March 2023 (see EUROPE 13138/6). Kosovar Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, hailed a step that puts an end to “a great injustice” suffered by his fellow citizens, as reported by AFP. The EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Josep Borrell, welcomed this “historic decision” via the X network (formerly Twitter). “The entire Western Balkans are now connected to the Schengen area through visa liberalisation”, he noted.
