EU Council continues negotiations on sustainable use of pesticides amid uncertainty

On Monday 11 December in Brussels, the EU agriculture ministers were divided over how to continue negotiations on the proposal on the sustainable use of pesticides, following the European Parliament’s rejection of the text.

A majority of Member States seem inclined to continue examining the text, but the countries still have quite a few problems with the compromise text proposed by the Spanish Presidency of the EU Council. In particular, restrictions on the use of plant protection...
