30/11/23 (Agence Europe) – In 2021, energy consumption in the agriculture and forestry sectors was equivalent to 28.3 million tonnes of oil, a marginal variation of -0.3% compared with 2020, Eurostat reported on Wednesday 29 November. On the other hand, total energy consumption in the EU has risen by 6.2% compared to 2020. The agriculture and forestry sectors contributed 3% of the EU’s total energy consumption in 2021. Within the agricultural and forestry sectors, there were significant variations between countries. France, the Netherlands, Poland, Germany, Italy and Spain were the six biggest energy consumers.
