Russia refuses to address link between diamond trade and conflict at Kimberley Process meeting

The Kimberley Process, an international negotiating forum bringing together governments, the diamond industry and civil society, held its plenary session from 6 to 10 November in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. In 2003, this multilateral forum created the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS) to prevent ‘conflict diamonds’ from entering the international market.

This plenary session was supposed to result in a final communiqué, which never saw the light of day.
