08/11/23 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 8 November, the European Commission announced that it had signed a Copernicus administrative arrangement on cooperation with the National Commission on Space Activities of Argentina (CONAE). “The aim of the Arrangement is to share each other’s satellite Earth Observation data on the basis of reciprocity”, it announced in a press release. CONAE intends to provide end-users in Argentina with easy and simplified access to Copernicus data, and Copernicus services provide near-real-time data to users around the world via satellites and in situ systems such as ground-based sensors. The Commission believes that Copernicus services will be better and more accurate thanks to access to these systems from Argentina. A Copernicus Argentina-EU coordination group will be set up to implement the agreement. (CG)
