On Wednesday 25 October, the European Innovation Council (EIC) published its 2023 report on cutting-edge technologies and sectors supported by the EIC under Horizon Europe, the “EIC Tech Report”.
The report identifies the new technologies and innovations submitted to the EIC as part of Horizon Europe.
This work of identifying these technologies and innovations was carried out in partnership with the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre and through discussions with EIC programme managers in their respective fields of expertise. The work included quantitative and qualitative analyses of EIC data.
The report focuses on research projects at an early stage, but also mentions quality projects that have not yet been able to be funded by the EIC.
The document also gives a voice to the EIC’s programme managers and provides a perspective on their portfolio.
This exercise makes it possible to consider the potential of certain innovative technologies, to give an overview of the EIC’s activities and to identify any gaps or obstacles that need to be resolved.
More generally, the EIC has indicated that this report will provide input for its future activities and help it to define its future priorities.
