On Friday 3 November, the European Commission announced that it had approved a €450 million Italian State aid scheme designed to encourage investment in primary agricultural production and the processing and marketing of agricultural products.
The scheme will be open to companies active in primary agricultural production and in the processing and marketing of agricultural products in Italy.
The aim is to encourage the modernisation of the sector by supporting projects relating to the construction, acquisition and improvement of property, the purchase of equipment and the development and acquisition of IT solutions.
This aid will reach beneficiaries until 31 December 2025 in the form of subsidised loans and will cover up to 80% of eligible costs.
The European Commission found the aid to be in line with European State aid rules and, in particular, with Article 107(3)(c) of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union and the 2022 Guidelines for State aid in the agriculture and forestry sector and in rural areas.
