Energy transition, ACER and EEA call for greater flexibility in European Union’s electricity system

On Friday 20 October, the European Union Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) and the European Environment Agency (EEA) published a report calling for increased “flexibility” in the EU’s electricity system. Faced with a transition to 42.5% renewable energy by 2030, compared with 22% at present, the system’s ability to adapt to variations in energy production and consumption is becoming essential.
