EU Ecolabel growing in popularity, says European Commission

12/10/2023 (Agence Europe) – The EU Ecolabel is attracting interest from businesses, with a 9% increase in the number of licences granted and a 1% increase in the number of products certified since March 2023, according to half-yearly figures published by the European Commission on Thursday 12 October. This label is now awarded to almost 90,000 certified goods and services in 25 different product groups (see EUROPE 13250/7). The tourist accommodation sector is leading the way, with 76 new licences granted in the last 6 months (+15%), bringing the total number of tourist accommodations with the label to 620. In addition, a recent Eurobarometer survey shows that 38% of EU citizens recognise the EU Ecolabel (+11% since 2017) and the same number say they often or sometimes buy products bearing it.
