26/09/23 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 26 September, the European Commission approved the Czech Republic’s revised post-Covid-19 recovery plan, which includes a ‘REPowerEU’ chapter designed to speed up the energy transition and reduce the European Union’s dependence on Russian hydrocarbons (see EUROPE 13213/21). Now with a budget of €9.32 billion, including €8.4 billion in subsidies, this revised plan aims to accelerate the energy efficiency of public and private buildings, facilitate the production of renewable energies (streamlining of permit procedures, modernisation of the electricity grid), accelerate sustainable mobility (electrification of the electricity grid, support for the purchase of hydrogen-powered vehicles by private companies), and promote the skills needed to make the climate transition a reality. In the social sphere, investment is planned to facilitate access to home ownership and improve social services for young children. For more information: https://aeur.eu/f/8qs (MB)
