22/09/23 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 22 September, the European Commission approved Portugal’s revised post-Covid-19 recovery plan, which includes a REPowerEU chapter designed to accelerate the energy transition and reduce the EU’s dependence on Russian hydrocarbons. Now with a budget of €22.2 billion, including €5.9 billion in loans, this revised plan places greater emphasis on the climate transition (41.2% of the total budget) through measures such as energy efficiency (the renovation of 75 schools), renewable energy production, the creation of an energy poverty observatory, sustainable mobility, increased energy storage, the promotion of the circular economy and the digitisation of public administration.
