22/09/23 (Agence Europe) – The signing of the Post-Cotonou Agreement - the renewed and modernised partnership agreement between the EU and the 79 African, Caribbean and Pacific countries that are members of the Organisation of ACP States (OACPs) - will take place “in Samoa in November”. The High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, made the announcement on Friday 22 September in New York, at a meeting with representatives of Pacific countries alongside the United Nations General Assembly. The post-Cotonou Agreement “will open a new era in EU/Pacific relations”, he stressed. The signing and provisional application of the agreement were authorised by the EU Council in July (see EUROPE 13227/7). The post-Cotonou Agreement comprises a framework agreement and 3 tailor-made agreements with each of the three regions (Africa/Caribbean/Pacific). (AN)
