19/09/23 (Agence Europe) – On the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 78), the European Commissioner for International Partnerships, Jutta Urpilainen, and the Executive Director of UN Women, Sima Bahous, signed the ‘ACT - Advocacy, Coalition Building and Transformative Feminist Action to End Violence against Women’ programme in New York on Monday 18 September. The EU will invest €22 million in this programme, which aims to accelerate progress towards one of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG5 - gender equality) by 2030 through the leadership of global and regional women’s rights movements and policy development via multi-stakeholder partnerships and coalitions. The EU has also announced a contribution of €16.5 million to support the Spotlight initiative at global level (see EUROPE 13247/10). (AN)
