15/09/23 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 18 September, negotiators from the European Parliament and the EU Council will discuss the issue of algorithms, i.e. the automated management of work on digital platforms and transparency in the processing of personal data, as part of the second political trilogue on the directive on workers on digital platforms. Both institutions have provisions in their terms of reference on the need for human supervision for important decisions affecting the employee's personal situation. According to one source, this point about algorithms is not likely to be the most difficult, as the main battle surrounding this directive lies in the criteria triggering the legal presumption of salaried status, which the European Parliament has proposed to abolish. This point will not be discussed on 18 September. (SP)
