13/09/23 (Agence Europe) – MEPs had until midnight on Tuesday 12 September to lodge their signatures in objection to the mandate adopted by the parliamentary committee responsible for electricity market reform (see EUROPE 13248/4). A total of 144 MEPs sent in their signatures out of the 71 required, including the ECR group (66) and The Left (37) in their entirety. The list of individual signatures led by Christophe Grudler (Renew Europe, French) received 41. He had collected 54 signatures, but 13 from ECR MEPs were eventually withdrawn as they had already been counted as part of the sovereignist group. Twelve MEPs from the EPP’s Romanian delegation also responded favourably to Mr Grudler’s initiative, but the signatures arrived after the deadline and therefore could not be counted. Nevertheless, these votes will count during the plenary vote to object to the mandate on Thursday 14 September in Strasbourg. (PLD)
