07/09/23 (Agence Europe) – Members of the European Parliament’s Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) have adopted by 53 votes to 6, with 2 abstentions, the draft report by Maria da Graça Carvalho (EPP, Portuguese) to improve the Union’s protection against manipulation on the wholesale energy market (REMIT regulation), as part of the reform of the electricity market. The compromise alternative amendment tabled by MEPs Zdzisław Krasnodębski (ECR, Polish) and François-Xavier Bellamy (EPP, French) concerning the investigative powers of the Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) (see EUROPE 13244/8) was rejected.
