31/08/23 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 31 August, on his arrival at the informal meeting of foreign ministers, Luxembourg minister Jean Asselborn called for the situation in the Near East to be put on the European agenda. “Since 1 January, 200 Palestinians and 30 Jews have died - the highest numbers since 2005”, he said, adding that the death toll would not stop unless there was a change of policy. He added that Israel’s settlement policy was “killing” the peace process and the two-state solution, “because there is no longer any possibility of creating two states”. “I hope that, as the European Union, we will once again have the strength to put this on the agenda”, he stressed, adding that the Near East should not be forgotten.
