Greece submits a revised recovery plan including a ‘REPowerEU’ chapter

31/08/2023 (Agence Europe)On Thursday 31 August, the Greek authorities submitted a revised recovery plan to the European Commission, including a ‘REPowerEU’ chapter designed to speed up the energy transition and reduce the EU’s dependence on Russian hydrocarbons. The measures put forward include the energy renovation of public and private buildings, the development of biomethane and green hydrogen, improvements to energy storage and the modernisation of the electricity distribution network. New measures include inspecting critical infrastructure for seismic risk and a housing policy for 18-39 year olds. The revised Greek plan will receive €18.22 billion in grants and €17.73 billion in loans. Due to high demand for loans from the private sector, Athens is calling for an additional €5 billion in loans. Find more information here: https://aeur.eu/f/8e1 (MB)
