30/08/23 (Agence Europe) – As reported by EUROPE (see EUROPE 13238/8), on Tuesday 29 August the EU’s satellite centre, SatCen, signed an agreement with five Member States to gain access to Earth observation data from their most recent government systems. These Member States are Germany, France, Spain, Italy and Luxembourg. SatCen and the European Commission’s DG DEFIS have also signed a contribution agreement for the implementation by SatCen until 2027 of the Copernicus security service to EU External and Security Action (SESA). Since 2016, the EU Satellite Centre has been implementing the Copernicus security service to EU external action. This new contribution agreement renews the role of SatCen and extends the support of the Copernicus security service to EU External and Security Action (SESA). (CG)
