Despite differences, EU and New Delhi want to make faster progress in their negotiations on trade and investment

28/08/2023 (Agence Europe)The European Commissioner for Trade, Valdis Dombrovskis, met the Indian Minister of Commerce, Piyush Goyal, on Saturday 26 August, to mark the high-level economic dialogue between the two blocs. They reviewed the negotiations underway on future trade agreements, investment protection and geographical indications. “There is a clear political willingness on both sides to change gear and make faster progress”, according to Mr Dombrovskis. For example, results are particularly expected on the issue of investment protection, he added. The next meeting of the EU/India Trade and Technology Council (TTC) is not scheduled to take place until early 2024, in India (see EUROPE 13183/22). (LM)
