28/08/23 (Agence Europe) – More than €52 million from the European Regional Development Fund will be allocated to the purchase of 37 electric trains for 13 inter-regional routes in Romania, following approval of the project by the European Commission on Monday 28 August. The introduction of these state-of-the-art electric trains will improve connectivity and passenger comfort and reduce transport emissions. Able to accommodate a minimum of 300 passengers per train, this investment will considerably improve the quality of services on the main electrified inter-regional rail corridors linking Bucharest to regional centres such as Arad, Cluj-Napoca, Constanța, Brașov, Timișoara, Iași, Galați, Craiova, Petroșani and Suceava.
