28/08/23 (Agence Europe) – €411 million from the European Regional Development Fund will support the construction of the Nonduermas-Vera and Los Arejos-El Puche sections of the Spanish Murcia-Almería high-speed rail line, following the European Commission’s approval of this major project on 25 August. This new railway line will improve the connection of the Mediterranean corridor of the trans-European transport network, making long-distance passenger services faster, more frequent and more reliable. The entire line will be electrified and equipped with a Level 2 European Rail Traffic Management System and superior safety technology. The railway is designed to accommodate passenger trains of up to 400 m in length and freight trains of up to 750 m in length. (LC)
