The Chips Act regulation was given the green light by the European Parliament on Tuesday 11 July. MEPs approved the provisional agreement reached with the EU Council in April (see EUROPE B13164A3) by 587 votes in favour, 10 against and 38 abstentions.
The European Parliament’s rapporteur for the text, Dan Nica (S&D, Romanian), and the European Commissioner for Internal Market, Thierry Breton, praised the rapid work that had gone into reaching an agreement.
